Data Robotics DroboPro: 8 bays, up to 16TB storage

It’s been almost 18 months since we reviewed the Drobo , and now Data Robotics are back with their latest model, the DroboPro .  Aimed at small businesses and professionals with huge quantities of data, the Data Robotics DroboPro has a full eight SATA I/II bays each happy with up to 2TB drives for a maximum of 16TB storage.  It also features the company’s intelligent monitoring and management system. Apple Time Capsule to reach 2TB?

Now, this is probably just a rumor that will end up nowhere, but it seems there’s some buzz floating about that Apple will be updating their Time Capsule device shortly, ramping up the storage to 2 terabytes worth of space. What’s strange about this is that Apple recently updated the Time Capsule and the Airport Extreme–just last month, in fact–so it seems rather unlikely we’d be seeing this update anytime soon. But a tipster saw on a ClubMac promo box pic that the Time Capsule clearly has 2TB of space.

Sun store the Internet in a Box

Sun have been commissioned to fit the internet into a box : a shipping-container sized box, to be exact, packed full with 60 of the company’s Sun Fire X4500 Open Storage Systems.  It’s all for The Internet Archive , who wanted a secure way to keep their three petabytes of backup data safe. The container-sized backup system is monitored for power, heating and cooling, fire, smoke, and water detection, together with physical access points, and Sun can dispatch technicians or security as the need arises.  More details in the overview video here
