Meet the Dell Latitude XT2 XFR tablet, the ruggedized version of Latitude XT2. Dell send the XT2 XFR to FCC begging for their approval. Badically, XT2 XFR is just the plain Latitude XT2 but comes in ruggedized casing with thick rubber bumpers on the sides and thicker monitor hinge.

Two new Ruggedized phones codenamed Susan and Sunny are prepared by Sony Ericsson. Will be waterproof phones, both Sony Ericsson Susan and Sony Ericsson Sunny will packs 5MP photo cameras with Led flash. While Susan come in a candybar design, Sony Ericsson Sunny is a slider phone.

New Pentax digital cameras called Optio W80 is announced. Optio W80 Packs 12.1 megapixel sensor, 5 x optically zoom, angle and -28 mm lens coating SuperProtect a function to drive water from dirt and fingermarks Crystal cover.

Samsung have launched their latest rugged cellphone, the Samsung Xplorer B2100.  Built to withstand submersion, dust, extremes of temperature and shocks, the Xplorer meets military specifications; since you’ll want to use it as a phone, too, it’s quadband GSM (850/900/1800/1900) though not 3G.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new, full-sized slate format Tablet PC, but Motion Computing seldom disappoint.  The new Motion J3400 Rugged Tablet PC is, as the name suggests, a rough & tumble capable slate with a 12.1-inch WXGA active touchscreen – with optional View Anywhere outdoor usability – plus 1.2GHz or 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processors, 2GB of RAM and an optional 64GB SSD.   There’s also optional Qualcomm Gobi dual-mode WWAN connectivity, standard WiFi a/b/g/n, gigabit ethernet, optional Bluetooth 2.1 and an optional 2-megapixel autofocus camera with LED light.  Motion have given the J3400 dual battery bays, hot-swappable, which together promise all-day usability of up to 7.4hrs. Of course, since it’s advertised as rugged you’d expect some stats to back that up, and Motion don’t disappoint.  The J3400 is compliant to MIL-STD-810F, meaning it’s good for a 3-foot drop together with being water, dust and splash resistant.  Storage is shock-mounted, as is the display which also has a chemically-strengthened glass layer.  The marvelously textured bottom (check out the gallery, you’ll see what I mean) is rubber-coated for shock dampening, and inside there’s a magnesium-alloy frame.
